Taylor Swift's fans, famously known as "Swifties," are recoiling from Donald Trump's Tuesday landslide, which was fueled by Elon Musk's full-throated support for the Republican presidential nominee. In response to Trump's historic win, which saw the first popular vote win for a Republican in 20 years, Swifties have begun fleeing X, formerly Twitter, en masse for the lesser known leftist echo chamber Bluesky, citing a toxic environment brought upon by Musk's support for free speech.
Many Swifties have reported feeling repulsed by X, due to the platform's aversion to censoring political rhetoric from conservatives--a stark change from Twitter's previous liberal management.
Musk's latest platform adjustment features a change to users' "block" capabilities. Previously, blocked users were unable to view or engage with posts shared by a blocking account. Musk's latest changes to the platform's "block" feature still prevent a blocked user from engaging or communicating with a user and their content, however, blocked users are now able to view content from a blocking user's account.
The leftist echo chamber, Bluesky, saw a massive influx of nearly 200 Swift-themed communities pop up overnight on the platform. It appears as though X's biggest opponents, who slammed Trump's creation of Truth Social in 2021 after he was banned from Twitter by the platform's old guard, have taken a page out of the soon-to-be 47th President of the United States' book.
